The New Skin Project

An explosive fusion of sensory indulgence

Greg Larkin - Guitar ★ Lisa Tulk - Saxophones

The New Skin Project is a new duo aiming to bring something completely new and exciting to the listener, the combination of sax and guitar being a relatively unexplored medium. Using an acoustic percussive style of guitar playing gives the impression of more musicians performing than just the duo, and adds an invigorating visual element to the performance. The sax and guitar flow together, weaving melodies around each other, but also, in contrast often aggressively duelling.

We want to take the audience on a journey with our compositions, by fusing together a range of genres unexpected by the listener, such as flamenco, jazz, dance classical and rock. We hope our audience will be as energised and excited listening to us as we are performing our music.

A new and exciting instrumental, stylistic combination, with infinite possibilities of musical and artistic interpretation. Initiated by an emergence in acoustic possibilities with the unique sound of percussive guitar mixed with the sonorous qualities of the sax.

Incorporating styles such as Jazz, Trance, Electronica, Classical, Flamenco and Dance. This eclectic duo takes you on a journey of no return. Influences are drawn on from Metallica, Led Zepplin to Rodrigo and Gabriel and Uday Bhawalker.

Lisa Tulk studied saxophone and piano and the Royal Northern College of Music. She enjoys a rich varied career as a performer, composer, teacher and choir director. She has performed at some of the country's leading concert venues and broadcast several times on BBC radio 2.

Greg Larkin is essentially self taught since the age of eleven and performs extensively throughout the country at venues such as The Jacoranda supporting the likes of Mike Dawes to the Ruby Lounge. To say he has developed a style of his own is an understatement. Greg really does need to be seen to be believed.
